The book presents a summary of research work done by the author on wind-resistance theory and practices of long-span suspension bridges over last one decade, including the research achievement made in “A Study on Key Technologies for Wind-resistance of Cross-sea Ultra-long-span Box Girder Suspension Bridges”---Subject II of Project of National Science and Technology Support Program. It consists of twelve chapters, covering evolutions of suspension bridge span, wind-resistance design concepts of suspension bridges, characteristics and simulation of boundary layer wind, basic theories of wind vibration of suspension bridges, valuation method for aerodynamic optimization of bridge cross section, stability analysis and evaluation of static wind, dynamic characteristics of suspension bridge structure, flutter stable property and control of suspension bridge, vortex-induced resonance properties and control of suspension bridges, buffeting analysis and wind tunnel test of suspension bridges, bridge deck traffic wind environment and improvement, and wind-resistance limit for spans of suspension bridges.
The book can be used by professionals engaged in bridge research, design and construction and can also be used as teaching reference for senior undergraduate and postgraduate students of universities.
